Code of Conduct

Players

Being a member of Avon Grove Lacrosse (AGL) is a privilege, and all AGL players are required to maintain a standard of conduct that exemplifies the essential elements of honesty and integrity.  All AGL players must abide by the following:
  • Treat all coaches, players, parents/guardians, and officials with respect at all times.
  • Refrain from disrespectful, bullying, or harassing language, acts, or behaviors toward any official, player, or parent/guardian.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship, fair play, and focus on fun and participation, not winning.
  • Be on time for all practices and games.
  • Work to the best of your abilities in practice and games and understand equal play time is guaranteed only to those players that give 100%.
  • Be a positive role model to other players.  Learn from players that are better than you and help teach those with less experience.
  • Follow the directions of your coaches at all times.
Work hard, respect the game, and have fun.

Coaches

As a coach with Avon Grove Lacrosse, you must always be aware of the tremendous influence you have on your players and must continually strive to be a positive role model at all times both on and off the field.  All AGL coaches must abide by the following:
  • Treat all coaches, players, parents/guardians, and officials with respect at all times.
  • Refrain from disrespectful, bullying, or harassing language, acts, or behaviors toward any official, player, or parent/guardian.
  • Demonstrate and teach good sportsmanship, fair play, and focus developing your players, not winning.
  • Protect your players at all times and remove players at any point if a situation is unsafe.
  • Be on time for all practices and games.
  • Teach the rules and skills required for your players to be successful in the sport.
Develop players so they will have a lifelong love for the sport of lacrosse.

Parents

As a parent/guardian, your positive encouragement and behavior throughout the season is the foundation that leads to a lifelong love for the sport of lacrosse.  All AGL parents/guardians must abide by the following:
  • Treat all coaches, players, parents/guardians, and officials with respect at all times.
  • Refrain from disrespectful, bullying, or harassing language, acts, or behaviors toward any official, player, or parent/guardian.
  • Remember that members of the opposing team are children that deserve caring attention and encouragement from adults.
  • Respect the actions and decisions of coaches during practices and games and not attempt to coach from the sidelines.
  • Understand that the mission of AGL is to develop players and that a win at all costs attitude is detrimental to the experience and development of our players.
  • Recognize that learning to interact with coaches and adults is part of the experience, and players must be allowed to resolve situations on their own first.
  • If a concern or issue arises, please speak with the head coach privately to address the situation calmly and respectfully.
  • If a situation cannot be resolved with a head coach or results in a disagreement, please wait 24 hours to reflect on the situation before contacting the Board of Directors.
Be loud, be proud, and be respectful.
