3rd / 4th Grade

This program starts the "golden age" of learning where players begin to rapidly gain physical skills and better understanding of the game.  Half-sided field play is continued at this age to maximize play-time to help players continue to build their skills.

  • Foundational skills will be expanded with introduction of advanced individual techniques
  • Skill level differences are common due to the influx of new players and differences in physical maturity
  • Players will be evaluated for the first time so teams with players of similar skill levels can be created

Eligibility

In 3rd or 4th grade during the season

Practice and Game Schedule

Teams will practice 3-4 per week starting in March, including weekends, and will then practice 1-2 times per week in April and May once games begin.  Games will be on Saturdays or Sundays, and will consist of "game days" that are played in a round-robin format with multiple games in a single day.  All games are sanctioned as part of the Chester County Lacrosse Association (CCLA), and teams will travel throughout the county to complete with other CCLA teams.

5th / 6th Grade

At this level the game will begin to resemble the game seen in high school, college, and the pros. Players will now play on full-sized fields and position specialization will begin to occur, specifically for defense and goalies.  Full-field team concepts and strategies are introduced while players begin to build their individual skill set.

  • Focus will be teaching players how to apply strategies and tactics from practice in games
  • Non-sport concepts such as mental preparation, goal setting, and coping with winning and losing are introduced
  • Team dynamics become much more important with players learning to understand team improvement
  • Crucial time for players as good experiences will encourage them to continue playing

7th / 8th Grade

The final level of our youth program where we prepare players to move on to high school and/or club play.  At this point the game has all the speed and physicality of high school lacrosse, competition is high, and focus and dedication to the sport becomes critical to continued success.

  • While the goal continues to be fun and improvement, players are expected to be mature, work hard during practices, and be focused during games
  • Play time is directly correlated with how hard players work during practice and demonstrate their commitment to success
