Shoulder Pad Requirements in 2022

All major lacrosse rules organization will require in 2022 that players wear shoulder pads or liners that meet the new NOCSAE ND200 standard.  This standard reduces the force of blows to the chest and reduces the risk of commotio cordis – a sudden cardiac arrest caused by a blow to the chest.  As a USA Lacrosse insured organization, all Avon Grove Lacrosse players will be required to wear pads that meet this standard in 2022.

Because all organization from youth up to the NCAA are adopting this change, it may be extremely difficult to find shoulder pads or liners as we get closer to the season.  We recommend all families purchase new equipment as soon as possible.  Players that do not have equipment with the NOCSAE logo and SEI certification will not be allowed on the field – no exception.  These pads can be found at ASC Lacrosse or any sports or lacrosse specialty retailer.

A full list of certified chest protectors can be found at the SEI website.  If you are unsure if your current chest protector meets the new standard, look on pad for a tag or label bearing the heartbeat logo in the graphic above.  If logo is present, the pad meets the ND200 standard.
