In December 2015, the Avon Grove Lacrosse family lost one of its beloved members to breast cancer – Amy Lengel. As a lacrosse parent and spouse of former AGL president Eric Lengel, Amy attended countless games, practices, and tournaments, and she was as integral to the AGL experience as any of our volunteer coaches and board members.
In 2016, AGL was contacted by a generous member of the community whose son had participated in our program and had an exceptional experience. The experience provided not only tremendous growth as a lacrosse player, but, more importantly to the donor, helped shape his son into an exceptional young man. Because of the role Eric and Amy took in helping to provide that experience, the donor helped us establish an award in Amy’s name.
Each spring, the Amy Lengel Memorial Award Selection Committee will select one or more 8th grade players planning to play lacrosse in high school with an award that includes the purchase of a high school team helmet, gloves, bag, gift card, and a plaque honoring this achievement.
We invite all of our 8th grade players to apply for the 2021 Amy Lengel Memorial Award. Please download the application here and submit by May 19th. All directions in the application must be followed to be considered for the award.
Best of luck to all of our applicants, and thank you to the Lengel Family for this opportunity to honor Amy and everything she brought to the AGL community!
